This May Be The Best Treatment For Adult Acne And You Are Going To Love It

By Carmen VJ

For those of us who still suffer from acne, I am quite sure you are still searching for the best treatment for adult acne. Well, there is alot of talk about this FDA-Approved blue light base therapy. Have you heard? It's called Photodynamic Therapy. And it is suppose to be one of the best for adult acne treatment since slice bread.

Photodynamic Therapy kills bacteria caused by acne. According to a report published in 2004 by the American Academy of Dermatology, you only need three treatments to see a decrease in acne by 83%.

This is how Photodynamic light therapy works. An amino acid called Levulinic is put on your face first. And this has to be left on your face for 45 minutes to 1 hour for this medicine to absorb through the skin cells. When the time is up, this acid has to be remove from your face. After this is done, this is when Photodynamic Therapy is used and as it is being use, this will activate the levulinic(amino acid) that is already on your skin . The Photodynamic light therapy with the Levulinic, will help kill the bacteria in your skin without any side effects. This light therapy will shrink the two oil glands in our skin called the sebaceous and the sebum . These two oil glands have alot to do with the way the acne is presented on our face.

This Photodynamic light therapy is good for those who have tried topical creams in the past and they just didn't work for you. And it is also for people who just cannot use topical creams and gels at all. If you are still having a problem with acne, then maybe you should look into this. Once the treatment is done, it will take 4 weeks before you will see results. And also what you need to know is, after the treatment is done, you cannot go out into the sun for two days. And if you need to, then you need to cover up really well. You will definitely have to work out your schedule before you do these treatments.

Photodynamic therapy is being used right now to treat acne. So far it is considered to be one of the best treatment for acne. This therapy is giving new hope for many people who are still struggling with acne everyday. This can also treat people with rosacea, if you have sun damage to your skin and/or any pre cancerous conditions you may have. This adult acne treatment appears to have positive effects in many individuals. This therapy also appears to provide great long term improvement for acne patients. Consult with a dermatologist if you would like more info on Photodynamic Therapy.

Now if feel you are not ready to do this kind of therapy yet, there is another alternative. There are many treatments you can use at home. You can get a Microdermabrasion System that you can use at home. These are being used at home everyday by many people and they do seem to work. I do use mines from time to time and with great results. Try it out and see if it will work for you. If you want more info on microdermabrasion, it is available.

Carmen VJ. Hello. There are many solutions available for adult acne treatment. And if you have not found the right treatment yet, you have to keep looking until you do. I will always let you know about the best treatment for adult acne Stop on by.

Today’s Top Acne Treatments For Treating Pimples And Obtaining Clearer Skin

By Tim Gorman

Today’s acne therapies attack problem areas by both controlling sebum and controlling the bacterial species, P. Acne, which causes most acne breakouts. Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, diode laser therapy and blue light therapy are newer treatments that can be used alone or in combination to treat acne. They are effective ways to shrink pores, control toxic buildup and kill bacteria to thoroughly clean skin.

Laser therapy is becoming a very popular acne treatment because it both heals acne and removes acne scars. Laser therapy kills the acne bacteria and shrinks the size of the sebaceous glands by penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin. The laser does not damage the epidermis; in fact, it actually improves the condition and texture of the skin. Laser therapy is most effective for those with mild to moderate acne problems.

Blue light therapy is another acne-fighting tactic that is gaining popularity among dermatologists. Excellent results can be achieved after several sessions of approximately 15 minutes each. Low-heat and pulses of yellow/green light combinations use the same strategy as the blue light with similar success. Some patients experience slight dryness and skin redness immediately after the procedure, but these side-effects are usually minimal and short-lived.

Chemical peels are another way dermatologists can help acne sufferers. A chemical peel is a delicate process, but when used in combination with other therapies, the results are amazing! In spite of the harsh sounding name, chemical peels, also known as "acid peels", are generally painless. Glycolic acid, lactic acid or salicylic acid is applied to remove dead skin cells and deeply clean pores. This has the added benefit of tightening the skin and reducing the appearance of scars. Although this treatment is usually quite harmless, with only a tendency toward mild area redness and dryness, chemical peels come with some risk. Without professional oversight, cracking and blistering can occur.

Another popular acne therapy is microdermabrasion. This is a type of exfoliation, which is done by blowing tiny crystals on the affected area. Gently, a brush is used to "sweep" the skin, clearing pores and removing dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion is a very effective treatment and is also often used in combination with other efforts.

These acne healing strategies are successful when used under the supervision of a professional. Skin damage can occur if proper safeguards are not taken. Do not expose your skin to experimental therapies or risk it by allowing untrained people to supervise.

Treat Your Acne With Laser and Destroy The Bacteria For Good

By Christain Cullen

Acne is a skin condition that has quite a number of treatments, but there is no cure.

Whether it is because of diet or environment, it has become a common condition for millions of people.
Medical researchers have striven to create the best treatment.
With the development of acne laser treatment came new hope for those who suffer from acne.
Although the Acne Laser Treatment has been used for less than five years, laser treatment itself has been used for many years as an anti aging treatment.
Doctors realized that when using the laser as an acne laser treatment, the results were clearer skin that lasted longer. Millions of people who suffer from acne are seeking this type of treatment.

Unlike a lot of treatments that are available, the acne laser treatment was developed for people who suffer from only acne. The treatment was designed to reduce the scarring that is associated with acne and, in some cases, it eliminates it completely. It also treats acne that is uncontrollable.

Teenagers are seeking out this type of treatment but doctors will only use it as a last resort if all other treatments have failed. Adults have the option of choosing acne laser treatment as their first choice of treatment.

The way that acne laser treatment works is that it either inhibits the glands that produce the oils or eliminates the bacteria that cause acne. Although either method of Acne Laser Treatment is effective, experts believe that inhibiting the gland that produce the oils is a more effective, longer lasting treatment.
When a doctor chooses to destroy the bacteria using Acne Laser Treatment, the process involves directing a yellow light to the affected area of the skin. The yellow light from the laser will activate the prophorine that is found in the bacteria to form oxygen that in turn destroys the bacteria.
This type of treatment also activates collagen growth in the body. This will assist in minimizing scarring from severe acne.

Acne affects people worldwide no matter their age or creed. Although acne laser treatment is an important development in the treatment of moderate to severe acne, researchers are still striving to find a cure. They are searching for ways to develop methods to it’s full potential of being a possible cure..

It is important to understand exactly what acne laser treatment is and how it works. Experts encourage potential patients to research their options fully and to ask the doctor all of their questions and concerns before the treatment.
Even though the results of studies have concluded that acne laser treatments are safe and side effects from this type of treatment are virtually non-existent. Acne laser treatment is fast becoming the number one treatment choice among acne sufferers.

Is Cystic Acne Leaving Scars on your Face?

By Christopher Wen

One fine day, after waking up in the morning, I had the shock of my life! Acne is infesting my face! I have what my dermatologist would like to call cystic acne. I NEVER have experienced anything that serious, and my face broke out right after an overnight stay at camp. I have a huge cyst on the bottom of my face, one between my eyes, and one on either cheek. Initially I am really nervous and puzzled about what to do. The other day the very big cyst popped and yellow-brownish stuff came pouring out, but it is slowly becoming big again. Oh man.

Well cystic acne development is an indication of toxic overload in your body. This is because the organs of elimination are not clean. Instead of toxins being passed out the proper channels, you are passing out of the skin. You need to start cleansing your bowel first through a series of colonic irrigation sessions or enemas and then begin flushing your liver to remove stones. If you begin to seriously clean the large intestine, you will see an improvement in your acne immediately, simply because the body is able to eliminate through the proper channels.

So what cause the toxic overload in my body? Hmm, it seemed to be the improper diet of mine recently. Certain foods that are oily like French fries and junk food can cause acne to grow on our face. Although scientific studies have not discovered any connection between these two, this does not mean that food does not cause acne. A proper and healthy diet is always good for our system, but eating like a pig won't make pimples a permanent problem in your face. Feel free to eat your favorite fries and chocolates anytime, but better not eat too much of everything. Any food, no matter how good it is, should not be consumed in excess. Guess I better watch what I eat now.

Should I rush down to get Accutane from my neighborhood pharmacy for quick solution to my acne problem? Well it's an ironic situation actually because the Accutane which is a dangerous drug and a poison to the body is known to cause liver damage. Hence I would not use Accutane. For many people Accutane does not solve the problem and leaves them with other health problems as well.

In the meantime it is important not to squeeze or pick the pimples as they can scar quite badly. This can lead to the spread of acne and the development of acne scars. Take my word on that.

And if you have not exercise for a long time, now is the best time to push yourself to exercise! Sweating is the best way to detoxify and cleanse your body from accumulated toxic. Go for a job, gym, swimming, or even yoga. Exercise can also help to relief stress and hence prevent acne to appear. In fact it is known that some modern industrial toxins and pesticides can leave your body only through sweat glands!

Right, now is the time to act and battle the acne before it leave scars on your face. Unless the above natural methods won't work for you or your cystic acne is getting really serious, then it's time to consult a doctor and get some antibiotic to kill the acne. Luckily for me, I do not really need that.

Foam Treatment for Acne

(NewsUSA) - Whether it's mild or severe, acne can cause teens a great amount of embarrassment about their appearance.

"Acne is not an easy condition to live with," said Dr. Jeanine Downie, a dermatologist and co-author of "Beautiful Skin of Color."

"To make matters worse, people spend millions of dollars on over-the-counter products that promise clear skin, but often do not deliver on the promise. That's why so many teens get frustrated and give up because they see little or no improvement," Downie said.

Acne affects 17 million people in the U.S.; more than 85 percent are between the ages of 15 and 24. The condition is most commonly caused by changes in hormones that occur in adolescence. Visiting a dermatologist is the best way to guarantee that you get the proper diagnosis and treatment.

While acne can be stubborn and hard to manage, medications such as Evoclin™ (clindamycin phosphate) Foam 1% are available. This once-a-day prescription delivers clindamycin, the most widely used topical antibiotic, in a foam formulation that is easy to apply, dries quickly and leaves virtually no residue.

"Evoclin offers a welcome relief to acne patients who often complain that some medications are greasy, messy and hard to spread on," Downie said. "The foam formulation is great for large body areas, such as the chest and back, since it is easy to apply."

Side effects can occur when using any acne product, including Evoclin. Side effects may include burning, itching, dryness or headache. Patients should not use Evoclin if they are allergic to clindamycin or the antibiotic Lincomycin, or if they have a history of colitis.

Visitors to www.evoclin.com can find treatment tips, take a "Should I See A Dermatologist?" evaluation and fill out a "Dermatologist Prep Form" to prepare for questions that a dermatologist may ask before offering a treatment plan. The site also provides full prescribing information for Evoclin.

Acne Products - Are You Using "The Wrong Stuff" to Treat Your Type of Acne

By Kevin Nelson

Acne is probably the most common chronic skin condition people are faced with on a day to day basis. All over the world, people are dealing with acne and the harmful effects it can have not only on the skin but also on your confidence and self-esteem. It's important to note that acne can impact adults as well as teenagers, with acne breakouts starting in some people as late as their mid- to late-30's. However, the fact still holds true that for the most part, teenagers are the primary victims of acne.

Acne is caused by a number of factors. Some of these include hormonal imbalances, improper diet, reactions to cosmetics and other factors. And once acne forms, the outbreaks can range from very mild (with only a zit or two appearing every so often) to very severe (requiring expert treatment and possibly surgery).

Luckily, most of us fall somewhere in the middle, where treatment can be found in any one of the many acne products available on the market, either through your doctor or, preferably, at your local drug store. Drug companies understand the huge impact acne has on its victims and the medical community has worked long and hard to try to identify treatments that help reduce current outbreaks and prevent new acne from forming.

Many acne products are simple, topical products that are applied daily in order to keep the skin acne-free or to clear up existing outbreaks. Still others are recommended for use only at night, right before bedtime, so the effects can take place while you sleep.

There are acne products for all forms of acne in all its stages. So whether you need something to clear up acne you have already, get rid of blemishes, prevent future acne outbreaks or simply a good face cleanser that won't damage your skin, there are several products to choose from. In fact, some acne products have additional effects such as rejuvenating the skin. The idea is that healthy skin is more resistant to acne, though there isn't any hard, scientific evidence to support that particular claim.

When using acne products, you should be careful about which ones you use and be sure to follow the instructions to the letter. Some acne products are relatively mild so in these cases, it won't be that big of a deal. But with more powerful medications, you can experience unwanted side effects if they're used incorrectly.

Keep in mind that since everyone reacts differently to different products, you might need to try a few before you see the results you're looking for. A simple search online will point you to a number of acne products that you might want to try out and is probably the best way to get started and to learn more about each individual product. In addition, several websites provide free information on various remedies for acne so that option should be considered as well.

Acne Myths Debunked

By Joseph Hanoa

Acne is a subject fraught with long-held and widespread myths. Your best bet for treating your acne is to debunk the myths so you have time to focus on the facts. As if it’s not bad enough to deal with less-than-ideal skin, but now you’re supposed to live without chocolate, too? I’ve got good news—chocolate doesn’t cause acne. You don’t have to deny yourself the occasional candy bar in order to stave off a break-out.

Since we’re on the subject of chocolate, let’s tackle the “certain foods cause acne” myth. Simply put, there is no scientific evidence to back up this claim. Not only is the chocolate thing untrue, so is the “no greasy foods” rule. Greasy foods aren’t great for us for other reasons, but some fries or a slice of pizza isn’t going to bring on or worsen acne. If you’ve noticed that a particular food truly does cause you to break out, then you can, and probably should, avoid it. But for most people, changing your diet isn’t necessary.

Common myth #2—if you break out, it means you’re not washing your face thoroughly enough or frequently enough. Like the forbidden foods, this statement is also false. Well, I should clarify. Of course it’s necessary to wash your face daily (probably twice daily) and use the over-the-counter products that have proven successful for your skin type. But over-washing, and you really can over wash your face, is only going to aggravate your condition. Dirt and oils are not the causes of acne. On a related note, you don’t have to stop wearing make-up. Many young adults still face the occasional unwelcome pimple. By using nonacnegenic or noncomedogenic make-ups, you can cover up your blemishes without potentially causing more.

Here’s another myth that might offer a short-term solution but could create future long-term problems. A lot of people think that tanning beds and/or sun exposure will help with their acne. It’s true that a tan will temporarily mask the appearance of acne, but it’s more of a cosmetic quick-fix than a cure. Plus, you have to keep in mind the increased risk of skin cancer that unprotected exposure to the sun can cause.

If you’re facing a lot of daily stress (and who isn’t?), you might have been told that it is contributing to your acne. Yet again, this is just a myth. The common stresses of your daily life aren’t a major cause of acne. However, some anti-stress prescriptions have acne as a potential side-effect. If you’re facing this particular problem, you should definitely talk to your doctor right away about ways to fix it.

Natual Acne Treatments - Mother Nature's Secrets For Acne-Free Skin

By Kevin Nelson

With so many acne remedies on the market, you might have tried quite a few already if you're suffering from acne. Unfortunately many people find their reactions to some medications too much to handle or would simply rather use more natural alternatives for treating their acne. Luckily there are also plenty of natural acne treatments to choose from which also produce great results for many acne patients.

Natural acne treatments are one of the most well-known and most often-used alternatives to traditional acne fighting medications. Since many acne patients experience side effect from certain medications, natural remedies are an obvious solution.

One of the most common natural acne treatments is acidophilus. If you were to do some quick research on acidophilus, you'd probably be quite shocked to find out that it's actually a form of bacteria that usually lives in the intestines. However, these bacteria can also be used to counteract the effects of acne-causing bacteria and cleans the body.

In addition, zinc is another popular example of what Mother Nature can bring to the acne fighting problem. Of course zinc is one of the most important minerals for all of us and in the case of acne, it has properties that help tissues heal in order to prevent scars. Zinc also helps the body resist infection and inflammation. However, despite the positive benefits derived from zinc, like anything else, you can have too much of a good thing. If you take too much zinc it can go from being helpful to being toxic so you should pay careful attention to the dosage suggested on the label or seek the advice of a medical professional.

Finally, tea tree oil is another item that should be part of your natural acne remedy toolkit. This is also thought to be one of the best natural acne remedies, at least according to many acne sufferers. Tea tree oil helps fight bacteria and fungus, acts as an antiseptic, and kills viruses and microbes making it a real powerhouse. In terms of fighting acne though, it is typically applied to blotches that often form as a result of acne or mixed with water and used a face wash. Because of its widespread popularity, you'll probably be able to find tea tree oil products in your local health store or beauty outlet or you can search for suppliers online.

Natural acne treatments are becoming more and more popular as acne patients seek out new, alternative methods for dealing with acne and preventing further outbreaks. And although it might take some time to start seeing significant results, they certainly offer a more natural option for fighting acne and avoiding the side effects common with some of today's other remedies.

How Out of Control Hormones Can Cause Out of Control Acne

By Kevin Nelson

One of the biggest factors leading to acne development, according to most experts, are hormonal changes throughout your body. There has been plenty of medical research to show that the majority of people suffering from acne exhibit oily skin, which leads to acne development. That overproduction of oil in the skin, it turns out, is often times caused by high levels of male hormones in the body (in both males and females). Based on those findings, researchers quickly determined that a proper balance between male and female hormones is one of the best ways to help prevent acne from developing and to maintain healthy skin.

Since we all go through significant hormonal changes during our teenage years, it's no shock that acne typically occurs during that same time, though plenty of adults get acne too. These hormonal changes regulate much of our bodily functions, growth and development, which is in an almost hyperactive state during puberty. It's only natural that our hormones get "out of whack" during this time, leaving teenagers susceptible to acne development among other things as this increased amount of male hormones flows through our bodies. But why does that cause acne to form in the first place? How are the two things related?

As the body starts producing more male hormones, those hormones excite the sebaceous glands which are oil-producing glands found throughout the skin. As this oil is produced and moves from below the skin up to the surface, it attracts bacteria. Once the oil reaches the skin's surface, through a hair follicle, the follicle can easily become clogged because of the excess, bacteria-laden oil. These blockages are a virtual buffet for other bacteria which are attracted to the area, leading to infection resulting in one of the many forms of acne. Most often, acne forms on the face, neck or back though most people's acne outbreaks occur only on the face.

Bodily changes during puberty aren't the only times when hormones can trigger acne development. Women in particular are vulnerable to this being a cause for acne development as they get older, especially in conjunction with changes that come with their monthly cycles. In fact, birth control pills are often prescribed as an indirect treatment for acne since they help keep the hormones under better control.

Taking all of this into account, it makes sense that experts find that men are more likely to have long-term acne (more male hormones present over a longer period of time) while women are more susceptible to occasional acne flare ups, even into adulthood (in sync with their monthly cycle or other hormonal changes).

Therefore, if you're suffering from acne and nothing seems to be working, it might be a good idea to consult a specialist to see if hormonal factors might be working against you and what can be done to get those hormones under control.

How to Get Rid of Blackheads

By John Ward

In order to learn how to get rid of blackheads, you need to first know what causes them.
If you know this, you will then be able to put together the best plan of action for defeating this problem.

Blackheads occur when the skin’s natural oil collects and hardens in the pores. When this happens the tip of the hardened oil sticks out on the surface of the skin and appears to be black. This problem is very common among people that suffer from acne. But luckily, there are ways to remove these types of zits from your body. In many cases, this can be done overnight if you are aware of the treatment options that work best.

Here are just a few of the ways to remove blackheads.

1. Be sure to exfoliate the area of the skin that is most prone to blackheads. If possible this should be done up to three or four times a day. This will help to ensure that your pores of free of dead skin and other oils that may build up and cause these zits to occur.

2. Use creams that are meant to clear away dead skin cells. This will help to expose the blackhead so that you can more easily get rid of it with other treatment options.

3. Try to keep your hair away from your face. Your hair contains greasy oils that can cause blackheads and even spread infection.

4. Do not over wash your face. Some people are under the impression that the more they wash, the better chance they have of getting rid of blackheads. This is just a myth. Washing your face with soap one or two times a day is plenty.

Overall, you can start the road to clearer skin by following the four tips above.

Treat Your Acne at Home

By Lim Zheng Yang

Ok, for this article, what I've done is compiled just a few acne skin care treatments that can be done right at your own home, while leaving the page open for more suggestions.

If you have your own proven home remedies for acne treatment, do go to our website (link at the bottom) and send it to us via the contact page. We'd be happy to share it with our readers ;)

For starters, consider using some of these acne home remedy methods to get rid of your pimples, blemish and blackheads etc:

Lemons - Many people agree that lemon has certain properties that are good against acne. All you need to do is slice it up and rub it on the affected areas. It's best to do it at night and leave the juice on your face till morning. Because our bodies heals best when it rests overnight, the lemon becomes more effective and helps remove acne scars too.

Cucumbers - This I gotta swear by, even if it's just for the refreshing properties! Cucumber actually soothes your skin because it's so gentle and cooling, and relieves it from any irritation you have from acne or some other skin condition. You can blend it into a paste, or even use slices to place to over your eyes (this is more to relax your eyes and relief stress! ;p ). When your skin is relaxed and free from irritations, acne is less likely to flare up.

Water - "What? Water?" Yep, you'd be amazed how something many of us take for granted daily can do so many wonders. Mind you, without water, we die in a matter of days! Other than drinking sufficient amounts of water daily to remain hydrated and cleanse our systems internally, we also use it to keep ourselves clean when we wash our hands, bathe etc. You know, simply rinsing your face with plain cool water from the tap every now and then goes a long way to keep our face clean and acne-free?

Again, if you have other acne home remedy that has worked for you, share it with us. I'd be happy to add it in here :)

As long as we help each other, there's no acne battle we can't win!

Lim Zheng Yang used to suffer from acne and has spent countless hours researching on this skin condition and the best ways to treat it. You can read more about his works at his main site Acne and Wrinkle Treatments Guide and Blog. And for his collection of acne resources, you can visit his sub-site Acne Treatment for All
